King Tut: Explore His Tomb in the Valley of the Kings

With an average of around 4,500 visitors daily, the Valley of the Kings in Egypt is one hot tourist destination. There are 63 tombs in the valley, but only 18 are open to the public and it’s rare that these are all open at once. The most famous and most visited tomb is that of King Tut. Due to the unknown nature of King Tut’s sudden death, his tomb is not nearly as impressive as others, but it’s still very much worth a visit. The best way to maximise your visit is to plan ahead before you go. Here are some top tips to to help you plan your journey:

Guided or solo?

You can choose to either navigate the valley on your own or with a tour guide. While tour guides are not allowed to lecture within the tombs, they can help you plan your journey and will answer any questions you have before and after. Not all of the tombs are open everyday so guides can help direct you to the best ones. If you’re going on your own, choose around ten tombs you want to see beforehand, and then when you get there you can select your top choices based on what’s open.

Be comfortable

The summer months in Egypt can be unbearably hot. Light clothing, sunglasses and a hat are strongly encouraged to keep you comfortable, so don’t worry about complying with Egyptian dress restrictions you may have found in other locations.

Plan before hand

There is plenty to see and do so make the most of it by doing a little research beforehand. Plus you’ll be able to appreciate Egyptian culture the more that you understand it. Try and visit a nearby antiquities museum if you can. The British Museumin London will give you a great insight into Egyptian culture, making your visit more insightful. You don’t need to visit a museum however – there is loads of material online that can provide you with an informative background. Heritage Key is one site that is really great as you can virtually explore the Valley of the Kings with a self designed avatar!

Pace yourself

While all the tombs are unique in their own right, it recommended that you only visit three or fourSerious tomb researchers may enjoy visiting all that’s on offer but if you’ve just got a normal interest, it’s suggested you only visit three or four on your trip. There are plenty of other amazing sites to see on the West Bank, including monuments and temples. Also the Egyptian Museum in Cairo is home to some of Egypt’s great antiquities including the solid gold death mask of King Tut.

Think ahead and you’ll ensure yourself a fabulous trip. It’s an ancient site full of history as well as mystery that anyone with an interest in ancient Egypt needs to see for themselves. Enjoy yourself and be sure to bring plenty of water and sun block!

Is Egypt the most popular place in the world?

One of the most popular search terms across the Internet is “holidays”. What are people really looking for when they type in holidays? I would imagine that anyone who types in the word “holidays” into Google doesn’t really know where it is that they want to go! In order for me to get the best results, i conducted a lot of research into these areas. I will write another post for the US!

European holidays are the most popular holidays in the world, mainly Spain or Turkey. These are great for money value and a hot country. However, what about the holiday searches outside of Europe! When you ask people this you then get this answer “the Caribbean or America”. And this is where you will find them to be (sort of) wrong.

Generally people don’t search all that much for “America holidays”, in fact they usually look for a specific place in this land of the free. Places like New York, Las Vegas and Florida are among the largest of these “Search Volumes”. Search Volume basically shows us how many people search for a specific keyword in Google. This seemed to be the correct idea, so I thought i would have a look and find out myself. There was something i found that was very different. Egypt had a higher search volume than both of them put together. And when you looked at the search volume for a specific location in Egypt you quite quickly found that search volumes where immense.

Sharm El Sheikh for some reason gets a whopping amount of searches from the UK. Somewhere in the region of 240,000 people a month searches for this on the internet. This is an astronomical number and only half the amount of search for “holidays”. Everybody has the general idea of where they want to go, some are just lazier than others or want to see what offers are available to different places.

In conclusion Egypt holidays is one of the most wanted trips on the planet, and Sharm El Sheikh holidays are the most wanted in this destination, if you prefer to go scuba diving, I recommend Hurghada holidays!
