The Caribbean is made up of many islands, learn something different about each one!

I thought it would be interesting for everyone if I provided a piece of information about some of these Caribbean islands that you may not already know about, so feel free to read on and learn something new.

Have you ever heard the word “Antigua”, well if you are Spanish you might have, but do you know what it means? Antigua literally means ancient in Spain, Christopher Columbus named this island so in testament to a cathedral in Santa Maria!

Barbados has a very rare national flower, but do you know what it is? This flower was thought to only grow on Barbados, and it is called the “Pride of Barbados” it is a form of Hibiscus flower.

St Lucia was pillaged many times by many countries, but served as an outpost of war for many years. The British and the French went to war over this island at least 14 times, earning it its name “Helen of the West Indies”.

How many people do you think live on Jamaica, just a rough guess, and I bet that you get it completely wrong. There are many more people living here than you think i bet? Well you weren’t really that close, it’s more like 3 million!

Cuba, the state stuck in the 60’s, well I want to shed something more interesting on this place for you. Bearing in mind the regime and all the restrictions set on this island, it is by far the most culturally diverse of all the Caribbean islands!

Grenada has a lot of natural beauty, much like the island of St Lucia, and it has tried to use this to it’s advantage to exploit tourism. However Grenada has another name like Zanzibar, it is known as the Spice isle. It is a leading producer of many different spices, like; Cinnamon, cloves, ginger and Nutmeg.

Finally we have Bermuda, well without stating the obvious superstitious stuff about this place, let’s find out something else. Bermuda may be referred to as the singular, but it is in fact made up of more than 130 smaller islands, the mainland is usually called Bermuda.

So what do you think, inspired to try Caribbean holidays, with new knowledge you could try St Lucia holidays or Cuba holidays!

For A Totally Relaxing Break, Why Not Book A Caribbean Spa Holiday

The time is coming round soon when I will be thinking about planning my next holiday.

I have travelled to many places, but there are still a huge amount of destinations I would love to visit. I have visited Orlando in Florida on many occasions and even though the theme parks are great, because the holiday is so busy, when I get home I feel like I need another holiday!

Some of my friends visit the Caribbean every single year. They enjoy Christmas at home, but once this is finished, their bags are swiftly packed and off they go for their 2 week’s all inclusive hotel break.   It sounds good to me, where better a place to be in the winter than the Caribbean where the sun is always shining and the temperature is a steady 25 degrees.  It also helps that the locals are well renowned for their fabulous hospitality.

Of course, it’s not just all about taking it easy relaxing on the beach and topping up your suntan. There are heaps of different activities you could try whilst on a Caribbean vacation. Maybe the time has come when you try something completely different whilst on holiday? You could give snorkelling a go, it must be a wonderful experience to swim amongst the tropical fish in the beautiful turquoise sea. It sounds fantastically idyllic.

I have heard that Caribbean Spa Holidays are a real favourite with us Brits.  Of course we have spa hotels in England, but given the choice, I think the Caribbean would win it for me every time. What could be nicer than drinking a tasty glass of rum whilst taking it easy in the sun.

If you don’t fancy the Caribbean, there are plenty of other lovely destinations to go to this winter.

Maybe you would like to give Goa on the West coast of India a try.   Apparently there are an amazing 66 miles of beaches to choose from.  However, if building sand castles just isn’t for you, then why not try one of the many Spa Holidays in India. What a totally fantastic combination, beautiful scenery, brilliant weather and a wonderful relaxing experience.

Would You Enjoy A Restful Nights Sleep?

What a terrible weekend it has been.

The weather in the North West of England this past weekend has been absolutely appalling and the poor people who live there have had to endure a lot of upset.

From a personal point of view I don’t remember ever seeing such heavy rainfall. It appears to be never ending and relentless.

I have made the decision that I am going to look at booking a nice lazy break. Typically I like to go on an action packed holiday. This years seems to have been particularly stressful and I am now want to escape this awful country and go to a place where I can be pampered and begin to feel myself again.

I was originally looking to visit the Caribbean as there seems to be a vast array of Caribbean Spa Holidays currently on offer.    However some of the Spa Holidays in India look so beautiful that it is going to be a difficult decision to choose between the 2 destinations.   I honestly never realised there were so many spa hotels to choose from, the list is endless.   It’s so difficult to choose any one hotel, as they all look absolutely breathtaking and each has it’s own appeal.  However, they all seem to have in common some fantastic facilities and brilliant activities.

After researching some of the classes available, I will be seriously considering booking in for a couple of yoga sessions. I used to attend Pilates classes a few years back and thoroughly enjoyed them. I would think that Yoga is pretty much the same as Pilates in that you have to be very controlled and disciplined and concentrate on how you should be holding your body.

I am also going to book in for a couple of meditation classes. I feel this is would be very useful to me as I find it very hard to sleep through the night due to my brain always being on the go.  The problem is that I find it so very difficult to cut off from my work and I get really stressed that I haven’t completed something I should have. I am hoping that when I return from my holiday, I may just have learned a few meditation tips that might just enable me to switch off and enjoy a good nights sleep – here’ s wishing!
